Once again this year we had the privilege to hear a few words each evening from our founding IHA President Isaiah Reid as portrayed by Jim Kerwin.

Bro. Jim Kerwin completed his master's thesis at Regent University's School of Divinity in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Our founder, Rev. Isaiah Reid (1836-1911) was the subject of his thesis. Bro. Jim completed his thesis, Isaiah Reid: His Life, Leadership, and Influence in the American Holiness Movement in 2006.

October 2012 Call to Prayer

As I write my article on prayer for the IHA Web page, I have just experienced a special financial blessing from the Lord, and I am impressed to challenge all of us in the IHA family with this question: Are we expecting too little from our majestic Lord concerning the ministry of IHA?

As I consider that question, I am reminded of the Ephesian passage that says, “Now unto Him that is  able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Ephesians 3:20). What comes to mind immediately after that is how God granted more to Solomon than he had asked for, as we read in 1 Kings 3:13: “And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honor…”  And the recepient of those added blessings has written, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18).

As one of the great holiness teachers of our day has said, “If the message of entire sanctification is correct (and it is), let us proclaim and promote it with all that is within us; if not, let us abandon it.” (Richard S. Taylor)

So let us offer the fervent prayer of a righteous people for the effective ministry of the IHA in the sanctification of believers from every corner of our state and beyond, from every church regardless of name and affiliation, from every race and nationality, from the young and the old. “Without holiness no man will see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14).  Holiness is for everyone who will believe!
